FAVOURITE 5 FREE FONTS
There’s nothing like it- something free and fantastic! I am amazed at the talented designers who make their wonderful works available for free use. So here’s a line up of just 5 of my favourite fonts and the people to thank for them.
Alegreya
This is a classic serif font that never fails. Originally created for literature, it is great for large swathes of text as well as being an elegant option for headings and display. Designed by Juan Pablo del Peral, it was chosen as one of 53 “Fonts of the Decade” in 2011. Download Alegreya
Chunk Five
A contemporary serif font that packs a punch. It is great as a stand alone or in combination with a subtle companion. Much thanks goes to uber awesome sounding League of Moveable Type. If designers had super heroes, these folks would be it. Since 2009, The League have been providing its citizens with the best free & open-source, @font-face ready fonts. You’ll find many great options at their website “The League” or download ChunkFive .
Raleway
Another great font from The League. It has 18 style variations in the offering. Download Raleway.
Alex Brush
From another powerhouse in the lettering arena- Rob Leuschke- comes Alex Brush. Whimsical, flowing, calligraphic script style. Unlike some other script fonts, it does not get messy and illegible. Download Alex Brush or visit the amazing website of its creator at TypeSetIt .
Pacifico
Vernon Adams brings us this delightful script font. It’s very playful, beachy and very now. Download Pacifico.
